On the New wade boggs challenge shirt but in fact I love this other hand LeBron James. If you told someone in the 80s/90s that a player like Bron would come along they’d say you were high on acid. A 6′8 250 pound player as strong as a power forward/center with a 40+inch vertical but he runs the court as fast as a guard. Defensively his feet are quick enough to keep up with the trickiest ball handling guards and give great contests. Centers/power forwards cant bully him on the block and he’s a great rebounder for the position. 5x All Defensive First Team selections and an All Defensive Second Team, the guy had a chance to win DPOY multiple times. He brings the ball up the ball and can initiate the offense- even leading the league in assists one year. His passing repertoire is as good as anyone including Larry Legend. A scoring title and 50% field goal efficiency doesnt do his scoring prowess justice. The man has 4 MVPs to his name and could easily have been 5 or 6 in a row. My heart says Larry Bird but my head says Lebron. When all is said and done LBJ will have a resume that is worthy of the GOAT. He’s already played 17 high quality seasons with incredible durability and consistency. I know, he often gets criticized during his career. The reality is, I would hate to be against this guy in a playoff series. His clutch performances- ask the Golden State Warriors- mean he can push his team from the brink of elimination to huge wins with his incredible all round dominance of the game. Game 6 against the Celtics comes to mind when he dropped 45 15 and 5. He has 4 scoring titles in his career and is pretty much the PERFECT small ball player. His shooting stacks up with Birds, although Larry had FAR superior playmaking skills.

One factor that doesnt get mentioned enough is ball handling. KD can create off the New wade boggs challenge shirt but in fact I love this dribble which makes it much harder to guard him in a 1–1 matchup. Defensively its hard to call. Neither one has seperated themselves on that end. Although Bird has more All Defensive Team selections, Durant was considered for the 2018 DPOY. Devin Booker is only in his sixth NBA season and a 2x all-star while Larry is a Hall of Famer, 3x NBA Champion, 3x MVP, 2x Finals MVP, and one of the greatest to ever play. While I believe the NBA’s official position is that its logo isn’t based on any one player, everybody knows that it’s actually the silhouette of Lakers legend Jerry West. Not everyone. The Bucks, as good as they are as a team overall, are shooting about 71% at the line, which isn’t that good. And the Knicks have been under 70% all season, which is pretty bad. But the explosive ‘Nique/Kemp ability to finish around the rim and his feathery touch from 20 ft were real. I’d say his potential was more close to James Worthy than MJ. So would adding a James Worthy-tier player as a 6th man who could back up Bird and McHale be enough to win 2 additional championships? It really depends on how Bird and McHale’s health holds up. I believe the ’87 and ’88 playoffs was like their version of Ali’s Thrilla in Manila where the grind just broke their bodies.
