New Zealanders are no more or less gullible than anyone else, but it would be insultingly wrong and dangerously paranoid to claim that our education system, public institutions or media are maliciously attempting to ‘brainwash’ the Never underestimate a woman who understands basketball and loves LSU Tigers shirt moreover I love this public any more than in any normally literate modern society. There’s a “can do” attitude in New Zealand that doesn’t come packaged with a whole bunch of braggadacio. I worked in the food industry there and if, say, a Japanese customer wanted a special order that involved packaging engineering changes they just did it. Australians would have whinged about it for six months and then messed it up. I also decided years ago that if I needed someone to have my back in a tight spot it would be a Kiwi or a Canuck. Its a kind of toughness.

Not at all. We would certainly make no claim to be the Never underestimate a woman who understands basketball and loves LSU Tigers shirt moreover I love this ‘Greatest Country On Earth’ as some do. We are number one, tied with Belgium, out of 180 countries on the the ‘Corruption Perceptions Index’. America comes in at number 25. We are also number one on the ‘International Freedom Index’. America comes in on that at number 17. There are a number of scales that we come rather close to the top of as well, if not at the top. Nonetheless I doubt any Kiwi would be so crass as to claim that we are ‘The Best’. We tend to wander along at our own pace and keep rather to ourselves. As another comment pointed out (rather scathingly as if good relations were a bad thing!?) that we have good business relationships with other countries, despite our strong disapproval of their politics, China and America spring to mind. We feel that countries should be responsible for their own destiny, no matter how dysfunctional their politics are. I should also mention that our national rugby team are rather good too. In fact if you were to ask a Kiwi if we are the best, I feel pretty sure rugby would be the first topic that came up.
