I’m a proud New Zealander. I admit that we have our fair share of problems and issues but we really do live in paradise. A few problems, but a safe and financially strong nation. I am sitting here in rural NZ, lived here all my life. My memories only start from round age 3 so there is a possibility I was transplanted here. So that’s basically how I think of New Zealanders – good looking, very tough, fast and amazingly athletic, with excellent hand eye coordination. To begin with Australia’s native Aboriginal population consists of arguably a far greater number of different tribes, languages and cultures spread far and wide across the continent and its many associated islands than New Zealand’s Maoris. As I understand it, New Zealand’s Maori population is far more homogeneous. I have no idea which statistics you are consulting but according to Wikipedia approximately 6.7million Australian residents were born outside of Australia comprising approximately 28% of the Australian population meanwhile New Zealand has approximately 25 to 27% of its resident population born outside of New Zealand. It could be argued that New Zealand’s pacific island community is possibly more diverse than Australia’s pacific island community on a per capita basis however. Meanwhile, Auckland contains approximately 52% of New Zealand’s foreign born population. This would indicate that if you were to venture outside of Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city that you are less likely to come across foreign born residents. However, as I understand it New Zealand’s Maoris are spread far more evenly across the country than Australia’s Aboriginal population. Northern Territory in Australia is home to the highest percentage of Australians of Aboriginal origin.

Australia’s foreign born population are spread far more evenly across the Pink Floyd how I wish how I wish you were here shirt in other words I will buy this major capital cities and States of Australia than New Zealand. Therefore, logic would tell us, if you were to venture outside of Australia’s largest city, Sydney or most populated state, NSW you are far more likely to meet foreign born residents than you ordinarily would in New Zealand. Needless to say, if we are talking about sheer numbers then Australia given its much larger population approximately 5 times New Zealand’s hands down is the more culturally diverse. However, on a per capita basis the two countries would be quite close. Finally, with the inclusion of Australia’s Aboriginal population then Australia is easily far more cultural diverse.
